Government announces telecommunications Consumer Safeguards Review
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Llew O’Brien, has welcomed the release of the Turnbull-McCormack Government’s terms of reference for a review into consumer safeguards in the telecommunications sector. 

The review will be undertaken in three parts which will ensure access to an effective complaints handling and redress scheme, ensuring that consumers have reliable telecommunications services and ensuring that consumers are able to make informed choices and have access to fair and comparable services from providers.

Seniors in Wide Bay communities and their families will benefit from significant aged care quality reforms, announced by the Turnbull-McCormack Government. 
 
The reforms are in response to the recommendations of the independent Carnell-Paterson Review ordered by the Government after the shocking revelations within the Oakden facility in Adelaide last year.

Young people in Gympie and surrounding areas will soon get improved access to youth-specific mental health support with the location now selected for the new headspace service.

The service, to open its doors in early July, will be operated by United Synergies and will be located in premises at 2-4 Horseshoe Bend in Gympie.

Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government John McVeigh said the festival was extended from three days to five days thanks to a Coalition Government grant.

Major safety improvements for Bruce Highway north of Tiaro

Completion of a $16.55 million upgrade of a six-kilometre section of the Bruce Highway north of Tiaro has improved safety.
 
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Michael McCormack said the project involved building dedicated turning lanes and a new northbound overtaking lane, installing wide centre lines and extending an existing southbound overtaking lane.
