Scholarships for regional students in Wide Bay 2018
Applications are now open for the Coalition Government’s $24 million Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships program for students to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) courses.
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Llew O’Brien is encouraging students in the Wide Bay community to take up this opportunity to apply for scholarships.
“Grants of up to $18,000 are available to help with the costs of studying STEM courses at either a university or a vocational education and training institution,” Mr O’Brien said.
“One of these scholarships could help a promising Wide Bay student realise their potential and get a STEM education that will open a world of future possibilities.
“STEM skills will play a critical role in an emerging workforce and we want to make sure our students are equipped and able to participate in these jobs of the future.
“More than 1,200 rural, regional and remote students will receive support through the program which also supports students by allowing flexible study arrangements, as well as additional funding so students can apply for internships and be job-ready.
“New guidelines will also make it easier for drought-affected students to apply, including families receiving the Farm Household Allowance.
“I encourage every student in our Wide Bay community, who wants to study STEM, to apply to the program,” Mr O’Brien said.
Applications close on Friday 14 December 2018.
