What a catch! Tin Can Bay Fishing Club reels in a whopper grant
The Tin Can Bay Fishing Club has reeled in a $40,000 grant from Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien for upgrades to their facilities.
“This funding will help Tin Can Bay Fishing Club improve its facilities by purchasing equipment such as generators, and extend the club house’s utility to the wider community,” Mr O’Brien said.
“The building is currently used not just by the Club but also by groups such as the local disaster management groups and co-ordination committees, so it is a valuable community asset that helps ensure the Tin Can Bay area remains a safe, enjoyable place to live.
“I’d like to congratulate the Tin Can Bay Fishing Club president Jim George and his team for their excellent work in making the Club a vibrant piece of Cooloola Coast’s social fabric.”
The funding will be delivered by the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities.
“The Liberal and Nationals Government is committed to supporting local communities to prosper and grow, and local infrastructure projects like this are critical if we want to boost economic growth and improve local amenities and facilities,” Mr O’Brien said.
In the 2018-19 Budget, the Liberal and Nationals Government committed to funding more than 100 new regional programs that create jobs, support economic growth and improve access to essential health, education and communications services.
