Llew O’Brien announces $40,000 for upgrade to Sherwood Hall
A $40,000 grant announced by Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien will help revamp Avenues Lifestyle’s Sherwood Hall, making it a safer, more accessible place for people with disabilities in the Gympie region.
“Sherwood Hall is a valuable community asset, used by a multitude of groups including social activities for people with disabilities, cooking classes, and art groups, and I am pleased to be able to help make it an even more vibrant and functional space,” Mr O’Brien said.
The funding will be used for upgrades including painting, repairing windows, installing a ceiling mounted projector and cupboards, and new furniture.
“These upgrades will greatly contribute to the Hall’s amenities and increase its viability as an accessible resource hub for the whole Gympie community,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Congratulations to Avenues Lifestyle and its team for their successful grant and work to make this upgrade a possibility.”
The funding will be delivered by the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities.
“The Liberal and Nationals Government is committed to supporting local communities to prosper and grow, and local infrastructure projects like this are critical if we want to boost economic growth and improve local amenities and facilities,” Mr O’Brien said.
In the 2018-19 Budget, the Liberal and Nationals Government committed to funding more than 100 new regional programs that create jobs, support economic growth and improve access to essential health, education and communications services.
