Coalition supports Gympie Girl Guide Jacana Hut renovation

Federal Member for Wide Bay, Llew O’Brien, today announced the Liberal Nationals Government will invest $7,800 towards the renovation of Gympie’s Jacana Girl Guide Hut.

“The funding will be used to purchase air conditioning and restore the internal timber flooring and external decking,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The Jacana Girl Guide Hut is 60 years old and wear and damage to the floor and decking has become a safety issue.  Restoration of the floor and decking will enable greater use of the building and better access for members and visitors to the Hut.  It will also allow other community groups to use the facility.

“Air conditioning will make the Hut more comfortable and for more activities to be conducted by the Girl Guides and encourage other community and private groups to use the building.

“These improvements will give the Hut a new lease on life and I congratulate the local Guides on the success of their application.”
