Government grant boosts Wide Bay commemorative project
Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien has congratulated the Kilkivan RSL Sub-branch on its successful application for funding under the Australian Government Saluting Their Service program.
Mr O’Brien said today the Kilkivan RSL Sub-branch had received a grant of $1003 to honour the service and sacrifice of local servicemen and women, as part of the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service grants program.
The funding will be used to refurbish the flagpole and install pavers at Anzac Memorial Park in Kilkivan.
“These works will allow the Kilkivan community to honour those local men and women who have served, and who continue to service, in defence of our nation,” Mr O’Brien said.
“The improvements to Anzac Memorial Park will ensure the community can preserve and honour our local history and the memory of those who have fallen in service of our country.”
The Saluting Their Service Community Commemorative Grants program provides up to $4,000 for an individual project and is a rolling grants program, so applications are accepted at any time, Mr O’Brien said.
Wide Bay community organisations interested in applying for funding under the Saluting Their Service grants program should contact the Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Commemorative Grants team on 1800 026 185 or email [email protected].
