More support for child care services in Wide Bay

Local kids will get off to a brighter start, with Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien announcing more than $330,000 to improve access to child care.

Mr O’Brien said three Wide Bay child care services would receive Morrison Government support through the Community Child Care Fund (CCCF).

Churches of Christ In-Home Care Wide Bay will receive $189,293; Kids Choice Granville will receive $100,000; and Little Gems Child Care & Early Learning Centre Maryborough will benefit from $50,000.

“This funding will help our Wide Bay child care services to help more families by creating additional places, covering their day-to-day costs, or extending their service by offering transport for children,” Mr O’Brien said.

“This investment will help our local providers overcome some of the unique challenges child care services in the city don’t face, such as attracting and retaining qualified staff.

“It means more hard-working families in Wide Bay can take advantage of our Government’s Child Care Subsidy to work, learn or volunteer.

“The CCCF is part of our Government’s Child Care Safety Net, which aims to give the most vulnerable children a strong start, while supporting their parents into work.”

Minister for Education Dan Tehan said the Morrison Government was providing more than $7 million to 76 child care providers in disadvantaged areas across the country.

“Our Government is providing a record investment of $8.6 billion for child care this year,” Mr Tehan said.

“Our Child Care Subsidy has reduced out-of-pocket child care costs for families by more than 7.9 per cent.”

The Morrison Government has provided more than $120 million to 800 providers over five years to support more families to access child care through the CCCF.
