Mary Valley secrets to be revealed with tourism grant
The hidden gem of Mary Valley is about to be revealed to the world, with Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien announcing $19,191 in federal funding for a new tourism marketing strategy.
“The Mary Valley is a stunning part of Queensland and it’s a quiet achiever in terms of tourism – now it’s time to help showcase its beauty so more people can recognise the incredible natural beauty on offer here,” Mr O’Brien said.
The project, funded under Round 3 of the Federal Liberal and Nationals Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, will undertake tourism market research for the Mary Valley Region to help develop the marketing strategy. It will also provide funding for workshops to develop business capacity and leadership skills in region.
“This funding will boost tourism in the beautiful Mary Valley, which will provide a valuable benefit to the local economy,” Mr O’Brien said.
“I congratulate Mary Valley Connect on the success of their application.”
Other projects funded in the Building Better Regions program include Cooloola Coastcare Association which received a $20,000 grant to develop a tourism strategy, and Noosa Tourism which received two grants worth a total of $30,000 for industry development programs.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the Liberal and Nationals Government is committed to ensuring Australia’s regions remain strong, resilient and prosperous in the long term.
“We are supporting our regions through investing in important local infrastructure, as well as great community-building and planning initiatives under the Building Better Regions Fund and other Government priorities such as the Regional Growth Fund and our decentralisation agenda,” Mr McCormack said.
“In this round we are also investing more than $70 million in regional tourism infrastructure, to support those many regional communities that rely on tourism to bolster their economy.
“We have seen fantastic outcomes from the first two rounds, and today’s announcement continues our commitment to unlocking the economic potential of regional Australia and ensuring our regions continue to thrive.”
