Federal Member for Wide Bay, Llew O’Brien, has announced Australian Government funding for an innovative program which will provide invaluable assistance to the South Burnett community.
The project, Inclusive CommuniTIES – Stronger Together, will be delivered by the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation (BIEDO) and aims to provide resources and assistance to people who have been challenged by natural disasters.
BIEDO will receive $468,000 for their “Inclusive CommuniTIES” project under the Strong and Resilient Communities grants program.
Mr O’Brien congratulated BIEDO and said its work will continue to build resilience and strength and will create a sense of belonging and engagement within the South Burnett region.
“The funding will be used to develop resources, deliver workshops and run project activities to help and educate those in need and enhance the wellbeing, social inclusion and economic welfare of participants,” Mr O’Brien said.
“BIEDO is a highly respected and highly valued local organisation that is known for helping business, community groups and individuals to access services.
“I’m pleased CEO Kristy Frahm and the BIEDO team have secured this funding from the Federal Government, as it will be used towards invaluable projects that originate from local people who understand what is best for their community” Mr O’Brien said.
Minister for Social Services Dan Tehan said 83 organisations had received a total of $36.6 million in funding under the Strong and Resilient Communities grants program.
“This grants program complements the Coalition Government’s national priorities of creating a safer Australia and helping people get into employment,” Mr Tehan said.
