Federal funding helps Maryborough families enjoy the ride
More Maryborough people with disabilities will be able to enjoy the physical, social and emotional benefits of horse-riding through a $68,000 Liberal and Nationals Government grant.
Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said the funding for Maryborough Riding for the Disabled (RDA) had helped provide a new covered area, which is nearing completion.
“Maryborough Riding for the Disabled runs a fantastic program that is loved by many local families, and makes a significant difference to their wellbeing,” Mr O’Brien said.
“This new covered arena means Maryborough RDA can help riders and horses avoid the harsh sun and inclement weather, and it will extend their highly-regarded program into another two months of the year so more people will be able to take part.
“The RDA volunteers are a dedicated and hardworking team who are brightening the lives of local children and people with disabilities, and I congratulate them on this wonderful new facility.”
“The Liberal and Nationals Government is committed to supporting local communities to prosper and grow, and local infrastructure projects like this are benefiting not just our local families, but also boosting economic growth and community wellbeing,” Mr O’Brien said.
