Dreamtime delegates visit Wide Bay during business events showcase

The natural beauty of Wide Bay is on display this week as Dreamtime delegates from India visit Fraser Island and Noosa, while Brisbane hosts Tourism Australia’s signature business events showcase, Dreamtime.

Dreamtime highlights how Australia is home to some of the world’s most incredible business events destinations and experiences, and connects international buyers directly with Australian industry.

Deals done at Dreamtime will drive tourists to Australia and inject millions of dollars into the economy.

Following the showcase, buyers and international media will take part in educational visits to various destinations around Australia including the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Whitsundays, Cairns, Darwin, Adelaide, Melbourne, Mornington Peninsula, and the Hunter Valley.

Delegates from the USA, UK, New Zealand, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and other countries will each take different educational tours, while the Indian delegates visit the pristine beaches and incredible natural beauty on offer in Wide Bay.

The last Dreamtime, in Adelaide in 2015, resulted in deals worth more than $42 million for Australia and generated more than 185 media articles that reached more than 25 million people.

This is the first time Brisbane has hosted the event, providing an opportunity to showcase some of the very best incentive offerings that both Brisbane and Queensland have to offer.

Brisbane has a strong track record in securing large-scale international events, having hosted the G20 Brisbane Summit, the World Science Festival, and the recent Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics 2017.

The value of business events to the Australian economy is significant, with business events visitors spending on average twice the amount spent by a leisure visitor. Earlier this year, Amway China announced they had chosen Cairns for their 2019 incentive trip, which will provide an immediate injection of approximately $50 million to the local community.
