VOLUNTEER GRANT HELPS OUR MARINE RESCUE HEROES

November 12, 2024

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien announced today that the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard at Tin Can Bay has received $2,000 from the Australian Government’s Volunteer Grant Program.

“The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard are there to help on the water when it’s needed most, so it’s fantastic that the Australian Government’s Volunteer Grant Program is there to help the Tin Can Bay QF17 Coast Guard Flotilla,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The Australian Government’s Volunteer Grant Program supports the important work volunteers undertake in community groups, providing funding for equipment and training that makes their work easier, safer, and more enjoyable.”

“The Tin Can Bay Flotilla will use the $2,000 grant to provide fuel reimbursements for their volunteers who often drive considerable distances in their own vehicles to conduct marine search and rescue activities and help keep boaties safe on our coastal waters.”

“Every volunteer’s contribution, no matter how big or small, is extraordinary because that person cares enough to serve their community and give of their time, expertise, and resources freely to improve the lives of others. Wide Bay communities would not be the same without them,” Mr O’Brien said.

“Another round of the Australian Government’s Volunteer Grant will open in November 2024. Please contact my office on 4121 2936 if you would like to be notified when this grant round opens.”
