WIDE BAY VOLUNTEER GROUPS GIVEN A CASH BOOST
Twenty-two volunteer organisations across Wide Bay will receive a cash boost in May to support the vital role they play in our communities.
Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien congratulated the organisations that will receive support from the Volunteer Grants Program 2023-24.
“Volunteers make a significant social and economic contribution to Wide Bay, sharing their time, skills, and expertise to improve the lives of others in our communities,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Volunteer Grants are designed to support the work of volunteers, making their work easier, safer, and more enjoyable. The grants encourage volunteering and help organisations to purchase equipment. Dozens of local organisations including community service, sporting, and veteran groups have received assistance from the program.”
“My office received more than 70 expressions of interest seeking around $285,000 in funding for many worthy projects to support the work of volunteers in the community. However, only $66,225 was available in this funding round,” Mr O’Brien said.
