Show your interest in building a Stronger Community

Community and veteran service organisations, councils and sporting groups are encouraged to submit expressions of interest for Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) funding, Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien announced today.

 
“A share of up to $150,000 is available in Wide Bay through Round 5 of the SCP to support small capital projects that will benefit local communities,” Mr O’Brien said.
 
“Eligible organisations, including councils and incorporated not-for-profit community service and sporting groups, can apply for grants of between $2,500 and $20,000, supported by matching cash or in-kind contributions from other sources for the project.
 
Mr O’Brien said the SCP has helped a wide range of local groups, and is a great opportunity for local community organisations to apply for funding to help improve their facilities and strengthen their communities.
 
“If your community group needs some extra help to get a project off the ground, I strongly encourage you to submit an expression of interest by Friday, August 30,” he said.

Organisations should consult the SCP guidelines and the frequently asked questions on the website www.business.gov.au/assistance/stronger-communities-programme  to determine eligibility.
 
“I encourage organisations interested in bringing forward SCP project proposals to contact my electorate office on telephone 4121 2936, or the Sunshine Coast, or Wide Bay Burnett Regional Development Australia Committees through the website www.rda.gov.au,” Mr O’Brien said.
 
Applications will be prioritised by a local Stronger Communities Programme committee and assessed against the SCP guidelines to ensure that project proposals offer value for money.
 
SCP project proposals should be submitted by email to [email protected] by Friday, August 30, 2019.
 
Previous rounds of the SCP delivered funding to a range of organisations in Wide Bay, assisting with:

• New audio visual technology for Gympie Chamber of Commerce
• Funding towards new vehicles for Cooloola Coast Medical Transport service
• Improved car parking and accessibility for South Burnett First Aid Volunteers at the Murgon Training Centre.
• two new portable salvage-fire fighting pumps for Noosa Coast Guard’s rescue boats.
• A new Digger’s Memorial for Tewantin-Noosa RSL Sub-Branch.
• Upgraded arena flooring for Maryborough Riding for the Disabled.
• A new hay shed for Gympie’s Hope Reins.
• Displays at Maryborough Military Aviation Museum Complex
• A new all-terrain vehicle for Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club.
• a solar power system at Vinnies Noosaville.
• a new 10-pallet truck for Maryborough’s Foodbasket.
• Security cameras for Tin Can Bay Fishing Club.
• Solar panels for Tin Can Bay RSL & Citizens’ Memorial Hall; and more.
