New lighting for Mary Valley Show Grounds

The Coalition Government is helping the Mary Valley Show Society to light up at night by investing $7,459 in upgraded lighting at the Imbil Show Grounds, Federal Member for Wide Bay, Llew O’Brien said today.

“The project will install lighting at the southern end of the arena, yards and rodeo chutes, and provide safety and security lighting at the show grounds,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The lighting will enable more events to be hosted by the Mary Valley Show Society, including rodeos, calcuttas at the campdraft, and bull and bronc rides, delivering economic benefits to the local community.

“The Mary Valley Show Grounds also serve as an evacuation centre during floods and times of natural disasters, and new lighting will help to provide a safe area to support the community during emergencies,” Mr O’Brien said.

“I thank the Mary Valley Show Society for their application and I look forward to the benefits the new lighting will bring to the Mary Valley.”
