Llew O'Brien has a comprehensive plan to strengthen Wide Bay
Working for you and your community
As your representative in the Australian Parliament, my commitment is to:
- Provide strong and effective representation to achieve results for you, your community and the electorate.
- Advance and progress individual concerns and perspectives on a range of issues in the Parliament and in the community.
- Support local projects that create jobs and new opportunities in Wide Bay.
- Be part of a team that works for a stronger economy, building a healthier and safer future.
Creating more local jobs
Building a stronger economy and helping business to create jobs is a priority for me.
Lowering taxes, cutting red tape, accelerating depreciation and providing incentives for businesses to invest, hire and grow will help jobseekers into work.
Building safer local roads
I frequently visit all Wide Bay communities and I understand the need for safer and less congested roads.
The Australian Government is investing around $2 billion on the Bruce Highway in the Wide Bay region making it safer, faster and less prone to flooding, and Roads to Recovery and Black Spot programs are also funding local upgrades.
Good roads are essential to connect family and friends, business and industry and I am working with the community to secure more funding to build better roads.
Increasing community safety
People need to feel safe and secure in their homes, streets and communities.
I will continue to support practical crime prevention initiatives like installing security lighting and CCTV cameras to deter criminal activity and catch offenders.
Improving local health services
Our family’s health and wellbeing is a top priority and families and seniors need to have access to local and affordable quality healthcare.
I’m working to make Medicare stronger and improve access to medical services in local communities.
Improving mobile and broadband communications
Improving education standards
All children deserve the best start in life and teaching them to read and write is absolutely essential for their future.
I support a back to basics approach to education that includes mandatory literacy and numeracy testing, and a greater focus on teaching strong values and our nation’s history.
