Festivals Australia applications open
Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien is encouraging regional artists, arts workers and organisations local organisations to apply for Festivals Australia funding.
“This program contributes funding towards festivals, events and community celebrations in regional and remote areas,” Mr O’Brien said.
Approximately $1.2 million is available each financial year for arts and cultural projects that encourage people living in regional and remote communities to participate in a festival or community celebration.
“In its many communities from Murgon to Maryborough, Noosa, Gympie, the Mary Valley and the Cooloola Coast, Wide Bay offers diverse events and festivals and I encourage local organisations to apply for funding,” Mr O’Brien said.
“This is a terrific opportunity to plan high quality arts experiences for people in Wide Bay.
“The Festivals Australia program demonstrates the Coalition Government’s commitment to supporting a vibrant arts and culture sector in regional areas, ensuring regional and remote audiences have access to high quality artistic experiences.
“Festivals Australia also provides audiences access to a range of art forms, giving Australian artists and performers gain wider exposure for their work.”
Applications for this funding round close on Friday, 20 October 2017.
