Federal funds light the way for the Tin Can Bay RSL Sub-Branch
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Llew O’Brien today announced that the Tin Can Bay RSL Sub-Branch will receive a grant of $4,000 to upgrade to the Tin Can Bay RSL & Citizens’ Memorial Hall, under Round 4 of the Stronger Communities Programme.
“The funds will be used to instal solar panels that will provide significant savings to the organisation, enabling it to further extend its services to the community,” Mr O’Brien said.
“The organisation provides a community morning tea every second Tuesday as well as holding regular information sessions for local residents at no cost, and will be able to expand these community-based events as a result of savings on their electricity bills.”
“The members of the Tin Can Bay RSL Sub-branch are to be congratulated on the success of their application,” Mr O’Brien said.
The Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme is designed to improve the resilience of communities by providing capital grants for small projects of between $5000 and $20,000. Up to $150,000 is available in each electorate per year.
The grants are available to not-for-profit organisations and local councils. Applications for the fourth round of the program recently closed.
