Cooloola Coast patients keep moving with Stronger Communities grant
The Cooloola Coast Medical Transport service will continue to safely carry clients to medical appointments after receiving funding through round four of the Stronger Communities Programme, Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien, announced today.

The $15,000 grant will enable the organisation to replace two of its vehicles, so it can continue to provide its door-to-door service to people on the Cooloola Coast at an affordable cost.

“The organisation is supported by donations from local businesses and the community, and I’m pleased the Liberal Nationals Government is also contributing to support the Cooloola Coast community,” Mr O’Brien said.

“Cooloola Coast Medical Transport provides a much-needed service for people in the region who might not otherwise be able to get to their medical and specialist appointments.

“Their volunteers transport people from the Cooloola Coast to see their medical practitioners in Hervey Bay, Gympie, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane and I am pleased that this valuable service will continue,” said Mr O’Brien.

Information about Cooloola Coast Medical Transport and the service it provides is available from the website www.cooloolamedicaltransport.com.au

The Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme is designed to improve the resilience of communities by providing capital grants for small projects of between $5000 and $20,000. Up to $150,000 is available in each electorate per year.

The grants are available to not-for-profit organisations and local councils. Applications for the fourth round of the program have recently closed.
