Bring bright ideas and events to Science Week  
Federal Member for Wide Bay, Llew O’Brien is encouraging people interested in science and technology to apply for funding to help realise their creative ideas, exciting events and innovative projects as part of National Science Week 2019.

Mr O’Brien said the Coalition Government is offering National Science Week grants of between $2,000 and $20,000 to support a range of science engagement events and activities.

 
“Individuals, community groups, universities and other organisations interested in putting together a National Science Week 2019 activity can apply for funding for a local project,” Mr O’Brien said.
 
A total of up to $500,000 in grants will be available for exhibitions, expos and workshops.
 
“This is a great opportunity to showcase our science and technology capabilities across Wide Bay and helps to involve individuals and community groups by making science accessible to everyone,” Mr O’Brien said.
 
The Coalition Government recognises science and technology are key drivers of the Australian economy, helping to generate more local jobs and higher living standards.
 
In the 2018-19 Budget, the Coalition Government invested $2.4 billion in Australia’s research, science and technology capabilities, underscored by a $1.9 billion investment to update our National Research Infrastructure.
 
Next year’s National Science Week 2019 will run from 10 to 18 August.
