2018 Volunteer Grants now available 
Llew O’Brien MP, Federal Member for Wide Bay, is encouraging community organisations in Wide Bay to apply for a share of up to $20 million in Coalition Government funding to support the efforts of local volunteers.

“Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 will help community organisations in Wide Bay to buy equipment such as laptops, pay for fuel costs, train volunteers and improve their fundraising capabilities,” Mr O’Brien said.
 
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our community and by continuing to help each other and work together, we are building a stronger and safer community.
 
“Wide Bay wouldn’t be same without the efforts of volunteers who give their time, skill and resources to help others.  These grants will help them to continue their work and benefit the community.”
 
Forty Wide Bay organisations were among the 2,690 groups nationally who benefited from the Volunteer Grants in 2016, supporting community groups with just 2 volunteers to those who have over a hundred members.  The most requested funding was for the upgrade or purchase of IT equipment, followed by applications for training and education of volunteers.
 
“In addition to the social contribution made by these hardworking members of our community, the economic value of their effort is immense and increased funding this year will allow for a broader range of organisations to benefit from the grants.
 
“I encourage all not-for-profit organisations in Wide Bay to apply for the grants to help make the work of local volunteers easier, safer and more enjoyable,” Mr O’Brien said.
