$193,500 to upgrade Anderleigh Road, Gunalda

Federal Member for Wide Bay, Llew O’Brien today said Commonwealth-State joint-funding of $193,500 will assist Gympie Regional Council to upgrade Anderleigh Road at Gunalda.

“The funding will be used to install concrete floodway protection at two sites along Anderleigh Road, north of Gympie,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The flood protection works will improve safety and access for property owners, businesses, tourists, private and commercial users of Anderleigh Road.

“Anderleigh Road carries approximately 200 vehicles per day and supports rural industries, quarries, tourism and local property access.

“This funding encourages a partnership approach to preparing for, withstanding and recovering from disasters, with responsibility shared between Federal, State and Local Governments.”

Projects are jointly supported with Commonwealth and Queensland State Government funding, as part of the $52.2 million national partnership agreement on natural disaster resilience.
