A new maintenance shed will make life more comfortable for Noosa Dolphins rugby players, with Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien officiating its opening today.

“The new shed means Dolphin teams now have a comfortable space to prepare for matches and the gymnasium can be doubled in size,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The Noosa Rugby Union Club has more than 450 players of all ages, and this funding will help ensure the Club can continue to serve these players and many more for years to come.

“We all celebrated when the Noosa Dolphins was successful in their grant submission to build this shed, and today we celebrate its opening which is the result of lot of planning and hard work by the committee.

“Sport plays an enormous role in the Noosa community, and up to 10,000 people attend major national and international matches at the club grounds so it provides economic benefit in the Noosa tourism market, as well as the social and health benefits offered by helping people get active and enjoy the sport.”

Mr O’Brien said the project received $50,000 in federal funding as part of the Liberal and Nationals Government’s investment in community sports infrastructure.

“This additional funding from the Coalition Government through its Community Development Grants Program helps to deliver the facilities communities need to enjoy sport and recreational activities,” Mr O’Brien said.

“Our local sports clubs and organisations are the heart of Wide Bay and this project will benefit our community now and into the future,” Mr O’Brien said.
