Funding available to help volunteers in Wide Bay

December 18, 2019

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien is encouraging local community, sporting and service groups to lodge an expression of interest for federal funding to support their local volunteers.

“Wide Bay wouldn’t be the same without the efforts of our wonderful volunteers, and these grants will help them to help make the lives of others a little bit easier,” Mr O’Brien said.

Up to $66,000 is available in Wide Bay through the Liberal and Nationals Government’s 2019-20 Volunteer Grants program.

“Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 will help community organisations in Wide Bay to buy equipment such as shade structures or laptops, pay fuel costs, train volunteers and improve their fundraising capabilities,” Mr O’Brien said.

“Volunteers are the backbone of Wide Bay communities and dedicate significant amounts of time, skill and resources to help others. These grants form part of the Morrison Government’s commitment to supporting volunteer organisations which build stronger communities, and will help them to continue their good work.”

Community groups are invited to lodge an expression of interest for the Volunteer Grants. An expression of interest form is available from the website www.llewobrien.com.au or from Mr O’Brien’s office by emailing [email protected] or telephoning 4121 2936.

Expressions of interest will close at 5pm on 28 January 2020.

Selected organisations will be invited to make a formal application in February 2020, and successful applicants will be announced in May 2020.

For more information about the grants, please go to the Government’s GrantConnect website at www.grants.gov.au

WELCOME TO WIDE BAY

In the spirit of Australia, I acknowledge all citizens who contribute to making our nation the greatest on earth.

I acknowledge our defence force personnel, past, present, and emerging, for their service to our nation, and particularly those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of Australia.

I also acknowledge the Australian taxpayers who, through their hard work, pay for the infrastructure, health, education, and emergency services that keep our proud nation healthy, safe, and prosperous.
