EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST OPEN FOR VOLUNTEER GRANTS 2024-25

November 27, 2024

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien is inviting local volunteer groups to apply for funding from the 2024-25 round of the Australian Government Volunteer Grants Program.

“Volunteers make a significant social and economic contribution to Wide Bay, sharing their time, skills and expertise to improve the lives of others and our communities,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The Volunteer Grants Program support the work of volunteers, making their work easier, safer, and more enjoyable. The grants encourage volunteering and help organisations to purchase equipment. Dozens of local organisations including community service, sporting, and veteran groups have received assistance from the program.”

“There have been some changes to the Volunteer Grants Program in 2024-25, with  a new focus on supporting young volunteers and activities that support children’s health and wellbeing,” Mr O’Brien said.

The Volunteer Grants Program 2024-25 provides grants of between $1,000 to $5,000 to eligible not-for profit organisations to:

  • Purchase eligible communication or insurance items that will benefit any of the organisation’s volunteers;
  • Purchase items or services for the main purpose of supporting volunteers under 18 years, or adults whose volunteering activities support the development and wellbeing of children;
  • Fund volunteer run activities that support children’s health and wellbeing, or parents/carers to develop the skills necessary to ensure a child’s development.

Expressions of Interest are required as part of the assessment process and can be accessed on the website https://llewobrien.com.au/volunteer-grants-program-2024-25

Expressions of Interest close on Monday 6 January 2025.

Grant Opportunity Guidelines for the 2024-25 Volunteer Grants Program, can be downloaded from Mr O’Brien’s website, by phoning the office on (07) 4121 2936, or email [email protected].

“These grants are an important way of providing assistance to local not for profit community groups to help them support the work of their volunteers and I encourage them to apply,” Mr O’Brien said.

WELCOME TO WIDE BAY

I acknowledge our defence force personnel, past, present, and emerging, for their service to our nation, and particularly those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of Australia.

I also acknowledge the Australian taxpayers who, through their hard work, pay for the infrastructure, health, education, and emergency services that keep our proud nation healthy, safe, and prosperous.
