Better support for Wide Bay students
A new series of toolkits is now available to help parents and educators improve student outcomes, Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien announced today.
The free online resources, called Gearing Up for Parent Engagement in Student Learning, will help parents, teachers and principals work together to support students at school and home.
“As a parent, I know how important it is to take an active role in our children’s education – and it can also be tricky to know how to help,” Mr O’Brien said.
“These toolkits help parents navigate some of the complex junctures in a child’s journey through the school years, with free, online resources to help them along the way.
“When parents and teachers have a healthy, engaged relationship, our students reap the benefits.
“Teachers will also be able to access useful advice on how to effectively communicate with parents, and work with them to provide a strong support network for students.”
The Morrison Government provided funding to Catholic School Parents Australia to develop the free toolkits, which are available to parents and educators in all school systems.
The toolkits are based on a nationwide research project conducted with government, Catholic and Independent school principals and parents. The resources are available at: www.parentengagementcspa.edu.au.
