Stronger Communities grant puts the "bop" back into Bauple Band Hall

A $13,637 Stronger Communities Programme grant will help put the “bop” back into Bauple, by upgrading the community’s Band Hall.

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said the Bauple Band Hall received funding for new commercial-quality seating, a new commercial gas oven, upgrading the bathroom facilities and important maintenance to the building, through round three of the Stronger Communities Programme.

“The Bauple Band Hall has been an integral part of the Bauple community since 1925, and the rejuvenation of this beautiful old building will encourage more community participation in events, lifestyle activities, monthly markets and community meetings,” Mr O’Brien said.

“The Coalition Government understands the importance of building resilient, vibrant communities. By encouraging broader use of existing and valued community assets like the Bauple Band Hall, the Stronger Communities Programme is ensuring our regional townships maintain their vital community connections.”

A range of other community organisations across Wide Bay have also benefited from round three of the Stronger Communities Programme, including Murgon Lions Club, Graham House Community Centre, The Queensland Dairy and Heritage Museum in Murgon, Little Haven Palliative Care at Gympie, Cooloola Coast Medical Transport, and Kilkivan Men’s Shed.

The Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme is designed to improve the resilience of communities by providing capital grants for small projects of between $5000 and $20,000. Up to $150,000 is available in each electorate per year.
